Pink Saturday 9/18/2009

I hope you all had a good week and are enjoying your Pink Saturday so far...

First of I want to thank Beverly over at "How Sweet The Sound" for hosting such a sweet pink day for all us. Go on over and say hi to her and see the links to all the other Pink Saturday posts. Just click here to get there.http://howsweetthesound.typepad.com/my_weblog/

Also Beverly has challenged us to visit a blog we visited the week before and post it this week, so I would like to share with you the blog by Bunny at http://creativehare.blogspot.com/

She makes lots of cute stuff, I love the little scrappy journal covers she makes. Go on over and visit her blog, she's a very nice lady.

Last week one of my very good on line friends, Molly, sent me a surprise package in the mail. This is my first time ever getting a gift from an on line blogger friend so I was thrilled.

Isn't this the cutest thing ever, can you tell what it's made from.... A bra, yes a bra.... isn't that the cutest thing ever.

Molly also sent along this beautiful fabric.. I love it, it's so dainty, pretty and pink. I'm not sure yet what I will make with it. It will probably be a small lap quilt. I just hate to cute the fabric though, it has such a pretty pattern on it. Thank you again Molly, you are a doll. Here is the link to Molly's blog if you would like to visit her, she would love you to stop by.... and tell her I said Hi.

And now for some Pink cupcakes. This first one is a cupcake cupcake. The cupcake on top I made from gum paste. You can't see it very well but on the icing there is pink eatable glitter, too cute!

One of my favorite cupcakes, a pink rose.

This one is cute for a baby girl baby shower. What mama or baby wouldn't love that.

Another pink CC. And another. Can you tell I like Pink?

Cute for a baby shower too.

This one I was playing around with dipping cupcakes in melted fondant, it actually worked out really well. You get a really nice smooth coverage doing it that way. Then I piped some royal icing on in a little meander style pattern and made a little GP flower for the top.

Ok enough cupcakes for now. These are the quilt blocks I'm working on. Not a good picture but you can see what they are ok... I don't think I am going to put a sashing in between each one, I've seen them done both ways and I like without the sashing better. I still have about quite a few more to make. I think I have 6 almost finished, I still need to sew the circle on them, then I can start on more, not sure how big I want the quilt. I will decide as I'm going along. The blocks are 18 1/2 square so they are pretty big. I love scrappy quilts!

Oh wow I didn't realize I had uploaded so many pictures this time.
I hope this post isn't to long and boring for anyone.
This next picture I would like to share is this cute little tea set I picked up a few months ago and the local second hand shop.

Very pretty little dainty flowers on it.

Gum paste roses. I love making these. I didn't have a recent pink quilt to show so I got my CD's out and found one of my favorite customer quilts to show from a few years ago. Very pretty and pink, don't you think?

This is my daughter in law, Denay on the right and her friend Shannon.
They are racing Denay's dune buggy in a race for a cure for breast cancer.
Here is the link if you are interested in powder puff racing.

Good luck on their race and a cure for breast cancer.

Thanks for visitng and have a wonderful pink weekend.

  1. Vera how darling! Thanks for the compliment, but you deserve the gift. Your cupcakes are getting better and better all the time, and your roses are so perfect. That quilt has such a 'vintage' look to it, I see why it is a favorite. The girls are too cute, I wish them luck in the race..both races. Last but not least, that little one in the T-shirt is just precious. I hope we do exactly what her shirt says to do. You have given us all a great Pink Saturday, so now I'm off to visit the others. Take care

  8. When the blossoms of summer begin to fade we can always count on Pink Saturday to bring a smile to our faces and to remind us that somewhere there are pastels and pretty things.

Thanks so much for sharing this week. I wish you sunshine and lollipops today and always.

I so love this post. Those cupcakes look precious. I love the one with the daisy type flower, it is so petite and just precious. I love it. Now that little bra (is it a purse or bag) is just down right cute. Your quilts are so awesome. I love the dresden plate squares. The colors you've chosen are so beautiful. You have such an eye for color. Thanks for sharing. Please stop by and let me share my pink post with you. Country hugs, Sherry

  13. Vera, this is the first time I visited your blog and I went through all our posts.....(there are a lot of them.) I just love the pin cushions you
have made and wonder if you would consider doing a tutorial and teaching us how to make one out of wool. The little one with a bird is devine but a nice simple one that looks like a cupcake would be so fun to learn how to do.
You are a very talented lady......those cupcakes are just too darling to eat!

    Happy sewing
